Veteran Opportunity Partner's three Founders bring highly diverse and complimentary backgrounds to the company. Steve Tazza brings leadership skills acquired at the Naval Academy and as an Active Duty Naval Officer along with business experience acquired through a distinguished career with world-class Financial Services Firms. Mike McNulty brings a wealth of entrepreneurial start-up experience in a variety of industries, including two prior successful ventures with Tom Nader. Tom brings over 25 years of directly relevant operational skills along with experience in successfully launching, owning and managing multiple franchise operations.
Steve Tazza, Chief Executive Officer
Steve is the Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Veteran Opportunity Partners, LLC (VOP), a Strategic Partner of JDog. Steve is also a U.S. Navy Veteran.
A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and the Kenan-Flager Graduate School of Business, Steve served as a Naval Supply and Logistics Officer aboard the Aircraft Carrier U.S.S. Constellation (CV-64) and at Naval Air Station, Willow Grove PA.
After his active duty service and completion of his MBA, Steve began his private sector career at Goldman Sachs, Inc. He then founded an investment firm focused on public equity investments and later operated the Special Investments Group at Lehman Brothers. Most recently, he was a Partner at Zeke Capital Advisors, an investment advisory firm. At the Naval Academy, Steve was a Varsity football player and recipient of the Toyota Leader, Jeffrey Korn Memorial, and Vice Admiral Mack Awards for outstanding combined achievements as a Midshipman Student-Athlete. He is a member of both the 1980s South Pittsburgh Football Team of the Decade and the Upper St. Clair High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
Tom Nader brings over 30 years of diverse operating experience to VOP in the waste management, transportation and consumer franchise industries. Tom has held multiple management positions with both public and private companies in addition to owning his own businesses.
He began his career in sales at Browning Ferris Industries (BFI). Over a 20 year period at BFI, Tom held positions as a Vice President of Post Collections and Recycling, Regional Vice President of Sales, and District Manager of Hauling Operations.
More recently Tom co-owned (with Mike McNulty) and was the operating partner of a thriving PODS (Portable on Demand Storage) franchise serving the entire New Jersey Coast. After growing this franchise territory and earning one of the highest efficiency and Customer Satisfaction ratings in the entire PODS system, Tom and Mike sold the franchises back to PODS Enterprises, LLC. Tom remained with PODS Enterprises, LLC for another five years as a Territory Manager in the Northeast, overseeing seven locations located in Pennsylvania, New York and Ohio.
Tom is a 1985 graduate of Muhlenberg University and has two college aged children. A resident of Philadelphia and long-time Philadelphia Eagles fan, he enjoys playing golf and spending time with his family at the Jersey Shore.
Mike is an experienced entrepreneur who owns and operates businesses in the real estate development and marina industries. He started his business career in trade publishing, holding sales management positions with several leading publishers. In 1995, Mike co-founded VerticalNet Inc. where he served in a wide variety of roles including VP of Sales, CEO, and Director. In 1999 he helped lead VerticalNet through a period of rapid growth where it employed nearly 2,000 employees and conducted one of the most successful IPO’s in NASDAQ history. Mike was honored as an Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year for the Philadelphia Region and was named to the “Folio 40” as one of the publishing industry's most influential leaders and innovators.
After retiring from VerticalNet in 2005, Mike partnered with Tom Nader to open a PODS (Portable On Demand Storage) franchise serving the New Jersey Coast region. In 2011 the franchise was acquired by PODS Enterprises, LLC after being recognized as one of the best performing franchises in their system. More recently, Mike served as Chairman and CEO of Movitas, a mobile platform company he founded in 2007 that was acquired by Allin Interactive Corp. in 2013. He currently serves as a Director of Allin Interactive Latin America.
Mike is a 1985 graduate of Saint Joseph’s University and a member of the Haub School of Business Hall of Fame. He also served on the University's Board of Trustees from 2000 to 2008.
